TRF Police Report 4-17-2017

Burglary

On March 21 at 2:20 a.m., the sheriff’s office received a report of a burglary at 202 Osmund Ave. N., Goodridge. Someone had stolen a Charter Arms Undercover .38 revolver with case, ammunition and other items.

Accident and driving while impaired

On March 31 at 11:56 p.m., police received a report of an accident in the 1700 block of Third St. W. At the time of the accident, Preston Brice Hamilton of Las Vegas was driving a 1993 Chevy pickup truck. According to the report, the truck rolled and Hamilton was given a ride to Sanford Medical Center. He has charges pending for DWI. Hamilton was arrested.

Fifth degree controlled substance crime

On March 26 at 6:39 p.m., police performed a traffic stop near the intersection of Fifth Street and Red Lake Boulevard. Kristina Marie Donarski, 26, Thief River Falls, has been charged with fifth degree controlled substance crime. She was arrested. Donarski, a passenger in the vehicle, allegedly possessed methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Apprehend and detain hold, and fourth degree assault

On March 31 at 7:16 p.m., the sheriff’s office received a report that a man was walking south on Highway 32. The caller said the man could allegedly be involved in a property damage incident at 11750 Hwy. 32 N.E. In that incident, a door was kicked in and a dog was found in the house. Ryan Tadd Grindahl, 31, Ada, was arrested on an apprehend and detain hold out of Norman County. About two hours later, he became combative with two deputies while he was in the process of being medically cleared for jail. Grindahl has charges pending for fourth degree assault.

Accident, falsely reporting a crime, reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident

On March 29 at 5:08 a.m., police received a report of a hit and run accident in the parking lot of Hugo’s. Two and a half hours later, police received a report of a hit and run accident outside of 603 Tindolph Ave. S. Upon investigation, police allegedly learned that the caller reporting the first alleged accident had, in fact, collided with the vehicle in the second report. At the time of the accident, Chad M. Dietrich of Thief River Falls was driving a 2017 Chevy. His vehicle then hit a 2006 Chevy Silverado parked in a driveway at the home. A Thief River Falls man owns the pickup truck. Dietrich then left the scene. Dietrich has been cited for falsely reporting a crime, reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident.

Hit and run accident

On April 3 at 2:38 a.m., police received a report from Devin Ales that his 1994 Buick Century had been stolen. A short while later, police received a report from an unknown caller that it looked like a 2013 Chevy Equinox had been struck by another vehicle in the 700 block of Main Ave. N. Following a trail of liquid, police found Ales’ Buick Century parked on Seventh Street East. The Equinox is owned by a Thief River Falls woman. The accident remains under investigation.

DWI

On March 26 at 1:28 a.m., police performed a traffic stop near the intersection of Maple Avenue and Nora Street. Peggy Lynn Mehrkens, 50, Thief River Falls, has charges pending for DWI. She was arrested and later released to a sober person.

Theft

On March 28 at 1:42 a.m., police received a report of a theft out of a vehicle parked in the parking lot of Foxtail Apartments. A Fosston man reported that a large, undisclosed amount of cash had been stolen.

Theft

On March 28 at 9:07 a.m., police received a report of a theft at 415 Arnold Ave. S. Tricia Leeann Parcell, 42, Thief River Falls, has been cited for theft. She allegedly stole a man’s medication.

Tampering with a motor vehicle

On March 28 at 5:32 p.m., police received a report of tampering with a motor vehicle outside of 316 Kendall Ave. S. Someone had tried to break into the vehicle.

Theft

On March 28 at 5:45 p.m., police received a report of a theft at Walmart. A Thief River Falls woman reported that she had lost her wallet/phone case that contained cash. It was turned in to the service desk; however, the cash was missing.

Possession of a small amount of marijuana

On March 28 at 10:04 p.m., police received a report that an apartment building at 1236 Edgewood Dr. smelled like marijuana. Joseph Kilen Werman, 34, Thief River Falls, and Chad Jeffery Laplante, 35, Plummer, have both been cited for possession of a small amount of marijuana.

Fourth degree DWI

On March 29 at 12:26 a.m., police performed a traffic stop near the intersection of Highway 1 and Center Avenue North. Renay Kae Anderson, 45, Thief River Falls, has been cited for fourth degree DWI. She was arrested and later released to a sober person.
