Disorderly conduct

On Dec. 9 at 10:46 p.m., police received a report of a fight near the intersection of Fourth Street and Atlantic Avenue. Timothy Keith Olson and Matthew Wade Sorenson, both 36 and from Thief River Falls, have been cited for disorderly conduct.

Felony escape from custody

On Dec. 4, the sheriff’s office received a report of an escape from custody. Trent Ashton Voges, 25, Sioux Falls, S.D., has been charged with felony escape from custody. He was arrested. While two sheriff’s deputies were bringing inmates to court, Voges ran. According to the complaint, a deputy ran after him, following him through a bank drivethrough. The deputy lost sight of him. A short time later, police and the sheriff’s office located Voges hiding under a parked truck on the west side of LaBree Avenue. Voges was in custody for a felony charge of being a fugitive from justice. He was wanted in South Dakota for possession of a controlled substance. Court records indicated that Thief River Falls police encountered Voges Nov. 27 after someone reported that Voges was yelling and screaming in a hallway at Northland Village, 1518 Hwy. 1 E. Police took him to Sanford Medical Center to be checked out and found that a warrant had been issued for his arrest.

Gross misdemeanor fifth degree controlled substance crime and giving a false name and date of birth to a peace officer

On Dec. 6 at 11:02 p.m., police received a report of four possible shoplifters at Walmart. Candece Denise Johnson, 48, Minneapolis, has been charged with gross misdemeanor fifth degree controlled substance crime and giving a false name and date of birth to a peace officer. She was arrested. While investigating, police located a suspect vehicle and found Johnson lying down inside the vehicle. She allegedly gave police a false name and date of birth. Police also found drug paraphernalia with traces of suspected methamphetamine.

 

Accident

On Dec. 5 at 3:30 p.m., the sheriff’s office received a report of an accident near the intersection of 140th Avenue Northeast and 140th Street Northeast. At the time of the accident, Aaron D. Robson of St. Hilaire was driving a 2006 Jeep Wrangler southbound on 140th Avenue Northeast. According to the report, he lost control of the vehicle while trying to avoid an unknown third vehicle. His vehicle then struck a 2004 Cadillac Deville driven by Gretchen E. Beito of Thief River Falls. No injuries were reported.

Hit and run accident

On Dec. 5 at 4:03 p.m., police received a report of a hit and run accident near the intersection of First Street East and Highway 59 Northeast. A white Chevy pickup truck rear-ended a vehicle driven by a Thief River Falls woman. The motorist then left the scene. The pickup truck has a chrome Chevy logo on its tailgate.

Intent to escape tax and violation of an ignition interlock restriction

On Dec. 5 at 5:07 p.m., police ran the license plate of a vehicle in the O’Reilly Auto Parts parking lot in connection with an investigation related to a hit and run accident. Ronald Lynn Rustan, 53, Oklee, has been charged with intent to escape tax and a violation of an ignition interlock restriction. He was arrested. The vehicle had 2018 license tabs; however, the system indicated that the vehicle was last registered in 2013. Rustan allegedly told police that the license tabs were expired and he had found and affixed fake license tabs because he had to haul a heavy load with the pickup truck. The vehicle also didn’t have an ignition interlock as required. He allegedly said he didn’t think he would make it to the city, due to the snow, with the vehicle equipped with ignition interlock.

Theft

On Dec. 5 at 5:56 p.m., police received a report of a theft at 925 Alice Dr. Someone had stolen check blanks.

Disorderly conduct

On Dec. 6 at 12:08 p.m., the sheriff’s office received a report of a disturbance at the Law Enforcement Center. Erik William Engelstad, 28, Thief River Falls, has been cited for disorderly conduct. He was arrested. Engelstad was allegedly belligerent.

Accident and driving after suspension

On Dec. 6 at 12:49 p.m., police received a report of an accident at the intersection of Highway 32 and Greenwood Street. At the time of the accident, Louis Maynard Krueger III of Thief River Falls was driving a 2003 Dodge Ram southbound on Highway 32. According to the report, he was unable to stop. His pickup truck then rear-ended a 2006 Chevy TrailBlazer driven by Dorene A. Myers of Viking. Myers was stopped at a stoplight at the time. No injuries were reported. Krueger has been cited for driving after suspension.

Vandalism

On Dec. 7 at 11:39 a.m., the sheriff’s office received a report of vandalism in the 200 block of Water Ave. in St. Hilaire. A Middle River man reported that someone had dented a tailgate on his vehicle. Nails were also found in the tires.

Theft

On Dec. 7 at 9:31 a.m., police received a report of a theft at Lincoln High School. Someone had stolen a laptop computer out of a student’s backpack.

Theft

On Dec. 7 at 5:33 p.m., police received a report of a theft at Walmart. Taylor Joel Gill, 19, and Keon Benard Smith, 18, both of Thief River Falls, have been cited for theft.
