Felony violation of a Domestic Abuse – No Contact Order

On July 3 at about 12:40 p.m., police received a report of a domestic disturbance near the Old Arena. Alexander Todd Brua, 21, Thief River Falls, has been charged with a felony violation of a Domestic Abuse – No Contact Order. According to the complaint, the involved parties then went south on Knight Avenue, and the man, later identified as Brua, grabbed the woman as she tried running away. Police located the two of them sitting near a building in the 100 block of Second St. W. They denied that an altercation had taken place. He allegedly admitted that he wasn’t supposed to have contact with the woman. Brua said they were in the process of walking to the courthouse for a 1 p.m. court hearing to ask for the Domestic Abuse – No Contact Order to be dropped. The officer spoke to a dispatcher, who said the order was still in effect. Brua said it was wrongfully ordered and it was amended. The officer followed the two of them to the courthouse and obtained a copy of the active Domestic Abuse –No Contact Order, which was signed in May 2016. This charge was filed July 18.

On July 18 at 8:01 a.m., police received a report of a domestic disturbance near the intersection of Third Street and Main Avenue. Alexander Todd Brua, 21, Thief River Falls, has charges pending for felony violation of a Domestic Abuse – No Contact Order. He was arrested. Brua allegedly harassed a woman and had her in a choke hold. He isn’t allowed to have contact with the woman as a result of a Domestic Abuse – No Contact Order.

On July 14 at 4:54 p.m., police received a report of suspicious activity near the garages at 624 Kinney Ave. N. Danielle Marie Vondal, 32, Thief River Falls, has been charged with four counts of felony fifth degree controlled substance crime and one count of open bottle. Richard Lee Parsons, 26, Viking, has been charged with gross misdemeanor fifth degree controlled substance crime and driving after revocation. They were arrested. Police allegedly found a backpack containing a needle; a spoon with a white and pink substance; two small baggies of a substance that later tested positive for methamphetamine; Diethylpropion pills; Clonazepam pills and Alprazolam pills. Vondal allegedly possessed meth and the pills. The complaint indicated that she had a previous conviction of possessing a controlled substance in North Dakota. Parsons is accused of possessing meth.

Gross misdemeanor fifth degree controlled substance crime

On July 14 at 2:13 p.m., police allegedly observed a man looking through some bikes at the city storage facility at 201 Atlantic Ave. N. James Russel Ward, 40, Alvarado, has been charged with gross misdemeanor fifth degree controlled substance crime. The complaint alleges that Ward possessed a glass pipe containing burnt residue that later tested positive for meth. He also possessed marijuana seeds and what appeared to be a marijuana pipe.

Vehicle theft

On July 19 at 8:45 p.m., the sheriff’s office received a report of a vehicle theft in the Kruse In parking lot in St. Hilaire. A Thief River Falls woman reported that her 2001 Mercury Marquis was stolen after she let someone use it. The car has a license plate of 969-VGU.

On July 16 at 9:38 a.m., police received a report of a theft outside of 525 Tonder St. Someone had gone through a vehicle, stealing a large amount of cash.

Vehicle tampering

On July 16 at 9:56 a.m., police received a report of vehicle tampering outside of 521 Tonder St. Someone had rifled through a vehicle.

Theft

On July 14 at 1:50 p.m., the sheriff’s office received a report of a theft at Petro Pumper. Wilburt Matthew Wind, 30, Red Lake, has been cited for theft. He allegedly drove away without paying for gasoline.

Public nuisance

On July 15 at 1:08 a.m., police received a report of a theft at the Pennington County Fairgrounds. Tyler Allen Johnson, 22, Thief River Falls, has been cited for public nuisance. Johnson allegedly took a barrier away from the fairgrounds. Officers located him on Kinney Avenue, where he tried to hide behind trees. Johnson then became agitated and boisterous.

Fourth degree driving while impaired

On July 16 at 1:52 a.m., the sheriff’s office performed a traffic stop near the intersection of Eighth Street and Red Lake Boulevard. Andrew Kenneth Rubischko, 32, Goodridge, has been cited for fourth degree DWI. He was arrested and later released when he was sober.

Trespassing

On July 16 at 3:50 a.m., police received a report of trespassing at 220 Arnold Ave. N. Jared Shawn Eng, 24, Thief River Falls, has been cited for trespassing. He allegedly entered a porch and tried to get into the home.

 

Theft

On July 16 at 10:55 a.m., police received a report of a theft outside of 1108 Christopher St. Someone had stolen GMC six-bolt 16-inch by 8-inch rims off of a deck.

Burglary

On July 16 at 11:56 a.m., police received a report of a burglary at 1118 Duluth Ave. N. Someone had stolen a golf set out of a garage.

Vandalism

On July 16 at 1:12 p.m., police received a report of vandalism at 209 Tindolph Ave. N. It is believed that someone shot paintballs at a garage.

Theft

On July 16 at 9:06 p.m., police received a report of a theft at the Pennington County Fairgrounds. A Grygla girl reported that someone had stolen a black and red backpack with Spider-Man on it. The backpack contained a Samsung 4G cell phone and miscellaneous items.

On July 17 at 5:05 p.m., police received a report of a theft in the Hugo’s parking lot. A Thief River Falls boy reported that someone had stolen a 29-inch Mongoose Wedge mountain bike.

On July 17 at 11:12 p.m., police received a report of a theft in the parking lot of Greenwood Crossing. Someone had stolen a Thief River Falls man’s debit card out of a vehicle.

Possession of a small amount of marijuana in a motor vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia

On July 18 at 12:43 a.m., the sheriff’s office allegedly observed a vehicle parked on the side of the road near the intersection of 160th Street Northeast and 120th Avenue Northeast. Noah Tyrell Hawkins, 18, Thief River Falls, has been cited for possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Two 17-year-old Thief River Falls males have charges pending for possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. The deputy smelled a strong odor of marijuana when checking the vehicle.

On July 18 at 2:45 p.m., police assisted probation at its office. Jensen Leigh Johnston, 24, Thief River Falls, has been cited for possession of drug paraphernalia. She was arrested on a probation apprehend and detain hold.

Tampering with a motor vehicle

On July 18 at 3:17 p.m., police received a report that a woman was rummaging through vehicles in the parking lot outside of the Pennington County Courthouse. Ashley Michelle Nelson, 43, St. Hilaire, has been cited for tampering with a motor vehicle. She was arrested.

On July 19 at 12:01 a.m., police received a report that a man was looking into vehicles near the intersection of Tindolph Avenue and Nora Street. Alejandro Lee Lara, 18, Thief River Falls, has been cited for tampering with a motor vehicle. He was arrested.
