Controlled substance crime and possession of drug paraphernalia

On May 3 at 8:31 p.m., police received a report of a suspicious vehicle parked in the St. John Lutheran Church parking lot. The caller indicated that the vehicle was now parked in the Tim Loeffler Agency parking lot. Chad Aaron Anderson, 40, Karlstad, has charges pending for fifth-degree controlled substance crime and possession of drug paraphernalia. He allegedly possessed a plastic bag containing amphetamines.

Warrant apprehension, fifth-degree controlled substance crime, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving after revocation and no insurance

On May 7 at 11:27 p.m., police performed a traffic stop near the intersection of Sixth Street and Barzen Avenue. Michael David Mugaas, 28, Strandquist, has been charged with fifth-degree controlled substance crime, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving after revocation and no insurance. Brandy Lee Larsen, 40, Redwood Falls, has been charged with fifth-degree controlled substance crime and possession of drug paraphernalia. Both were arrested on the drug charges and also warrants out of Roseau County. The complaints allege that police found drug paraphernalia containing suspected methamphetamine residue.

 

 

 

 

 

Vandalism

On May 5 at 1:02 a.m., police received a report that someone was banging on a window, threw something at a window and let air out of vehicle tires at an apartment building parking lot at 601 13th St. W. Officers discovered the four tires had been slashed and the vehicle window had been broken.

Theft

On May 5 at 10:16 a.m., police received a report of a theft at Thief River Care Center. Someone had stolen an employee’s wedding ring set.

Fourth degree driving while impaired

On May 5 at 9:47 p.m., police performed a traffic stop near the intersection of Sixth Street and Davis Avenue. Michael Patrick Drury, 63, Thief River Falls, has been cited for fourth degree DWI. He was arrested and later released to a sober person.

Possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia

On May 6 at 11:59 p.m., police performed a traffic stop in the 2000 block of Hwy. 59 S. Upon stopping the vehicle for expired license tabs, police allegedly smelled a strong odor of marijuana. McKenzie Anthony McCullough, 18, Thief River Falls, has been cited for possession of a small amount of marijuana. A 17-year-old Thief River Falls male has been cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a small amount of marijuana.

Disorderly conduct

On May 8 at 4:51 p.m., police received a report of disorderly conduct at Cenex Travel Plaza. Kyle Thomas Hanson, 29, Wannaska, has been cited for disorderly conduct. He was arrested and later released to a family member. An intoxicated Hanson was allegedly loud and causing a disturbance.

Accident and failure to drive with due care

On May 8 at 5:30 p.m., police received a report of an accident near the intersection of Third Street and Barzen Avenue. At the time of the accident, Loren Lavern Tofstad of Thief River Falls was driving a 2000 Chevy Impala westbound on Third Street. According to the report, his car then rear-ended a westbound 2015 Chevy Silverado driven by Jeffrey A. Kriel of St. Hilaire. Kriel had signaled his intention to turn right onto Barzen Avenue and was preparing to turn at the time. No injuries were reported. Tofstad has been cited for failure to drive with due care.

Theft

On May 8 at 7:24 p.m., the sheriff’s office received a report of a theft outside of 706 Vaughan Main St. N.E. in Goodridge. Someone had stolen a purse out of a vehicle.

Theft

On May 8 at 8:18 p.m., the sheriff’s office received a report of a theft at 102 Lindstrom Ave. N. in Goodridge. Someone had stolen a Microsoft Surface with red keyboard.

Accident

On May 11 at 10:48 a.m., police received a report of an accident near the intersection of Main Avenue and Third Street. At the time of the accident, Karen K. Hruby of Goodridge was driving 2013 Dodge Durango northbound on Main Avenue. According to the report, her vehicle then rear-ended a northbound 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Jennie L. Sampson of Goodridge. Sampson had just slowed in traffic. The report indicated that unidentified passengers in Sampson’s vehicle reported neck pain. It was unknown if they sought medical attention.

DWI, driving after revocation and no proof of insurance

On May 12 at 11:24 p.m., police performed a traffic stop near the intersection of Pennington Avenue and Riverdale Drive. Dominick James Lussier, 22, Red Lake, has charges pending for DWI, driving after revocation and no proof of insurance. He was arrested.

Theft

On May 13 at 8:52 p.m., police received a report of theft at Walmart. Mark Daniel Hanson, 34, and Amber Elaine May, 21, both of Cass Lake, have been cited for theft.

Open bottle and littering

On May 14 at 7:08 p.m., police received a report of littering in the 600 block of LaBree Ave. N. Skyler Brian Burkel, 23, Greenbush, has been cited for open bottle and littering. He allegedly threw a beer bottle out of a vehicle window, causing it to shatter in the street.
